Removing Bandage

Always use clean hands when handling your tattoo! Keep your bandage on for a minimum of 3-5 hours after your appointment but no longer than 12 hours. When you remove the bandage, do so in a clean place and immediately wash your tattoo using an unscented soap.

Use your open hand to wash your tattoo firmly, do not scrub it. Once the slime is removed you will gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean disposable paper towel. Allow it to air dry.

When to moisturize (day 3 on).

When your tattoo begins to feel dry and tight, you may apply a thin coat of scent free, unmedicated, mild lotion with CLEAN hands. Apply throughout the day when your tattoo feels overly itchy or tight being sure to rub all the lotion in so it is fully absorbed. You do not want to smother your tattoo with lotion as this may prolong healing and lead to complications.

First 48.

You should wash your tattoo 2-3 times daily or as needed for the first 24-48 hours. This will keep it free of discharge and dirt. Follow the same washing technique you used when removing the bandage. At this time, moisturizer is unnecessary.

Do’s and Don’ts.

Do not pick at any scabs or scratch, let the skin shed naturally! Your tattoo should shed very similar to a sunburn and the skin will be the same color as the ink when it sheds. Avoid gyms, swimming, soaking under water, saunas and sun exposure for 2-4 weeks after your appointment. If your tattoo is in a location covered with clothing ensure you are wearing clean and nonabrasive clothes. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me immediately.
